How ethical are technological responses to Covid-19? Should AI systems be used as part of public health strategies? When doing so, how do we protect fundamental rights and freedoms, such as privacy and data protection? In a Twitter chat by Women in AI Ethics, Carla Hustedt, project lead of “The Ethics of Algorithms”, tackled these questions. Hosted by Mia Shah-Dand, CEO of a California-based strategic research advisory firm and founder of the Women in AI Ethics initiative, Carla joined the virtual panel together with Renée Cummings, an AI criminologist and ethicist from Columbia University. Below, you can re-read Carla’s answers.
